Travel Reveries
A journey across lands. Not so foreign but different to life here. The Ionian Sea, the Adriatic Sea, and the Mediterranean. The heat, the tourists, the siestas, the ruins, the history, the beauty. These works are open to interpretation. Many of you have seen these parts of the world, come from them, or perhaps they remind you of somewhere else or of home. The way they manifest depends, in a way, on how they are observed. If you see it, it changes. The building blocks of matter change if we are conscious of them. I think they call this physics. Too serious for this body of work, but thoughtful murmurings, nonetheless.
These paintings are the closest I get to really experiencing where I have been. Abstract, yes, but capturing moments both fleeting and sustained and always deeply felt. These parts of the world are ancient and reflect this in their buildings and landscapes, but life continues to surge through the crumbling walls, so beautiful and inspiring still.
